Carson's the Big One!

June 1, 2011
June 2, 2012
After eating his birthday breakfast at McDonald's. He ate every bite of his oatmeal! Please excuse the morning hair, we were in a hurry to have breakfast before Kyle went to work!
Carson turned the BIG ONE Friday, June 1st!! My what year this was!
I waited till today to share all about his big birthday so I could also give you all the official doctor stats since today was our 1 year wellness check.
Carson is 30" long, weighs 21 lbs & 15 oz, and head circumference of 46". That puts him in the 50% for height, 40% for weight, and a little over the 50% for head size. Doctor says he looks great and is healthy!! He also got three shots and blood taken from his finger. He cried during the shots but the moment is was over so were his tears. I think he was the most upset about his finger, he held it and looked at it all the way to the car.
Mother's Day weekend Carson started taking three or four steps on his own and by the time his birthday rolled around he was able to go almost all the way across the room. Now this week he is walking everywhere!!! He is still taking a spill here and there but he is so proud and excited every time he makes it somewhere!
Everyone always says it goes by fast, and that is so true, even without kids, but I think you notice how fast life really is flying by when you have a little person to watch grow and change so much! Every month Carson grew and changed by leaps and bounds but I think this past months was one of his biggest changing months. In the past month he went from crawling everywhere to walking, from 6 to 7 teeth and the 8th one is almost out (and the doc pointed out a molar that is starting to make its way through the gums), "talking" more than ever, leaving the bottle behind and enjoying whole milk, eating almost everything in sight and hardly any baby food, moving up to the 1 year old daycare room, and becoming a true toddler. It was hard to see all these changes and know my baby isn't a baby anymore, but now that we are here in this phase I am excited to see all the wonderful things he is going to learn and do!
On June 2nd we held Carson's 1st Birthday Bash. It was a lot of fun. We kept it small so Kyle and I could make sure it was all about Carson! We had some of his good baby buddies over to the neighborhood clubhouse/pool and my mom, sister & brother-in-law, and grandparents. He got so many wonderful gifts and had fun splashing around in the water.
Carson's Cake.
He did more licking of his fingers than smashing into his cake.

As soon as the website will let me load more bday pics I will post them!

Now that the big party is out of the way, Carson and I will be enjoying these next couple of months together for summer vacation. Hopefully it will stop raining around here so we can do more outdoor activities together.
Kyle finally has gotten to hire some people to help him with all the accounting needs of his company so hopefully he will also get to enjoy some more outdoor activities!!
Tomorrow Kyle and I our celebrating our fifth year of marriage, I can't believe we have been married that long. It has been a fun and exciting first 5 years so I can only imagine the next 5 being just as entertaining!

Better Late than Never....

Carson is two weeks away from being ONE!!! I can not believe it, and I am just now getting around to writing his 11 month blog. May is always a very busy month for Oklahoma teachers, so needless to say blogging fell off the to-do list.
May has been a very full month. Carson is very active and we are doing our best to keep up with him. He isn't walking yet (seems to be every ones first question) but I am hoping he will surprise us any day now! We try practicing as much as possible. He loves to "cruise" around anything and everything so I know one day he'll let go and do it on his own.
He now has 6 teeth, two on top and four on bottom, and 7 and 8 are due to make their appearance any day now.
He loves to say "uh-oh", he is getting good at waving and giving high fives, he loves any toy that makes sound, can be thrown, or you can put things in. You can truly tell that he is becoming a toddler and leaving the baby stage of life. As I sit here and write this I am starting to cry! The past 11 months have been the most exhausting, exciting, fun, hardest, and educational months of my life and I will miss them so much because like everyone says they truly do go so fast. I am eager to see what the Lord has in store for our little man and all the wonderful years to come.
As for the rest of our little family we have been busy working and doing things on our To-Do list around the house. We had our front yard landscaping completely redone and it looks amazing. I'll post pictures of it soon. We (as in Kyle) have been working on getting our front and back yards looking amazing and "we" have done a pretty good job! So bring it on summer, we're ready!!
June we'll be celebrating Carson's first birthday and our 5th anniversary!! In July, Kyle and I are going to San Diego to officially celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, and I can't wait!!

Hope all is well and I can't wait to share all the exciting times we our having with our 1 year old next month!! Love

10 months

It is really hard to believe our little man is ten months old and only two months away from being a one year old! This past month he got another tooth, one of his top front teeth, and has a fifth one coming in on the bottom. He is crawling into everything! He loves pulling up on whatever he can reach and cruising around it. For his ten month birthday we got him a push & go toy to help him get from place to place and he loves it!! Most the time when he is walking and pushing it, he is squealing with excitement. He has started to wave and point at things and he loves to chat!

During March I got to spend a week being a stay at home mommy with Carson over Spring Break. It was so nice to get time together, go visit friends, and have play dates. It makes me so excited for summer and all the fun we will get to have!

Kyle is doing well. He is still enjoying his new job and seems to be doing really well at it. He has also start playing softball again with his old work buddies. He enjoys getting to see his old pals and play his favorite sport. Carson and I got a chance to see him play last week. Carson wasn't much into the game but he loved walking around the gross bleachers, lol!

Every month has proved to be more exciting and entertaining than the one before so I am truly looking forward to what lies ahead in the coming month!

9 months!!

This past month Carson has been a busy bee! He has gotten better at pulling up on things, started saying "mama" and better at saying "dada", growing teeth, and crawling! He currently has three teeth and the doctor said today that the fourth will pop out any day now! The picture above shows one of his cute little bottom teeth :)
He isn't the worlds best crawler (he's pretty slow) but I'm sure the moment he realizes all the possibilities he'll catch wind! He loves to stand! Most recently when we hold him up to stand he takes steps. It is so exciting to watch him grow and figure things out.
He has also become our biggest cheerleader. He discovered how to clap this past month and he breaks out in a clapping cheer all the time; diaper changes, meal time, and bath time just to name a few exciting times for him.
Today we went to the doctor for his 9 month check up. Doctor thought he looked great!! He is in the 50 percentile for his height and weight 28 3/4 in. & 20 lbs 1 oz. Not sure how it happened, but he is now in the 70 percentile for head circumference! He used to be below average in that department.

This picture was taken right after bath time tonight.

"Reading" his first V-Day card from "mama" & "dada".

Things are continuing to go well for our family. Just staying busy with our jobs and Carson! We are just super ready for Spring and Summer to arrive!

8 months

Carson turned 8 months old Wednesday! He is getting to be such a big boy and showing his personality more and more each day. He currently has one bottom tooth, it made its appearance on Jan. 17th, and he has about three more that will make their appearance any day now. I am hoping sooner rather than later because his drooling and chewing is out of control! He still isn't crawling :( He scoots and rolls to any toy or place he needs to get to though. He absolutely LOVES to pull up and stand on any item that is available, and he is getting really good at it. So who knows maybe we'll have a walker before we have a crawler! His other current loves are feeding himself snacks, dumping and putting things in his bucket, bath time, Jake (our youngest pup), his momma ;), and yelling (he thinks its funny!) :(

I'll post pics of our little love in the next day or two!

Everything else is going well here at the Bertholf house. Kyle is still really enjoying his new job and we are enjoying all the extra family time we have gotten because of it!

7 Months!

Carson is 7 months old today! It's hard to believe in 5 months we will be celebrating his 1st year.
He still has two teeth under the gums that haven't popped out yet, but I'm hopeful it'll be any day! Carson hasn't started to crawl, but he loves to sit up and see and reach for everything. Being a first time parent though I of coure want him to hurry and get a tooth and crawl, so I'm praying all these things happen soon!!  He has a big appetite! He loves food and just about anything thing you offer him he will gladly enjoy. We started him on the sippy cup last month and he is really getting the hang of it and wants to drink from everyones cup now!

The end of 2011 was very eventful for our little family. We had all of our holiday celebrations and went to Idaho to see Kyle's side of the family. Christmas was wonderful Carson has enjoyed all of his new toys and outfits. It made the holidays so much more fun having him to share it with. Our trip to Idaho was good! I was so anxious for the plane ride (especially since Carson had a double ear infection :( ) but I think for an infant he did really well! It was so neat to see Carson with all his aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

2011 was an amazing year for Kyle and I, and we are excited to see all the other wonderful things God has in store for us in 2012!! Happy New Year!!

* Your continued prayers for my Grandfather are really appreciated.

Happy 6 months!!

(sitting under Grandma Lynch's Christmas tree on 12/3)

Carson turned 6 months on Thursday! It is so hard to believe how much he has grown and changed in that amount of time. The past month he has learned how to sit up all on his own, he talks quite a bit around Kyle and I, and he wants to grab and play with everything as well as put it all in his mouth! He has also found a great love for FOOD! He absolutely lights up when you feed him oatmeal or any pureed food!

We went to the Dr. for his 6 month check-up on Friday.
He is now 27 inches long, 16 lbs and 14 oz, and his head circumference 43.4. He is above average in height, below average in weight, and average in head size. So he is still tall and skinny with an average head!
Everything looked great except the doctor discovered he has an ear infection. We didn't even know it, he had been acting pretty normal so we were really surprised to find that out. He believes it is from the cold he had a few weeks ago. Since we are leaving for Idaho in a few weeks we are hoping it heals quickly. The doctor is making us revisit him before we leave to make sure the infection is gone. He said he won't stop us from getting on the plane but if the infection is still there, it won't be good for little Carson. So let's pray the medicine works and we have a happy baby for the flight.
The doctor also saw his two front bottom teeth under the gums so hopefully they will pop any day now so the drooling gets under control!!

1st Thanksgiving

Love you all!
